Materials
All materials we use are sourced from the highest quality suppliers. Our wood is supplied from locations which due to the cold climate, ensures a slow growing and therefore very stable, close grained trees. It also necessitates that the trees are very old and mature prior to harvesting which due to their slow growth, have to establish over many decades in order to reach the right specification. Complimenting the best materials with high quality treatments and surface coatings will ensure your Finwood building will last indefinitely (with maintenance of the external micro-porous woodstain finish). All the timber used is certified by the local governing bodies and are sourced from sustainable resources, using managed replacement policies.

Product Longevity
At Finwood we ensure that not only the best quality materials are used but also the building is designed and constructed in such a way as to eliminate potential problems. We go to great lengths in the design process to give optimum protection against build up of moisture, ingress of water into structure, access into any part of building by vermin etc. We also ensure that potential problems with log settlement are taking into consideration and designed accordingly. The corresponding construction work is also vital to ensure that these measures are implemented correctly on site and the building is erected to the standards we have already laid down. It is therefore critical that knowledgeable and skilled labour are used in the erection of a building and at Finwood we can provide the specialists who can undertake this work and give you peace of mind.

Building Regulations
All our buildings that fall under building regulations are designed from day one to comply and in many cases significantly exceed the current building regulations. New regulations are being implemented on a frequent basis and Finwood will make sure all necessary regulations are met. We will guide you through the appropriate requirements and allow you to make an informed decision. Insulation requirements for example have been one of the biggest areas of change in recent years, but we are proud to say that most of our buildings already greatly exceed the regulations and provide you with a very energy efficient home. We will also supply you with the relevant (independently accredited) certificates proving such details as structural design, SAP calculation for U-values and fire treatment of wood. This gives you all the details that need to be submitted to your local building control department and again gives you peace of mind that your building is in safe hands.
