Does living in a log house really have health benefits?
Yes. The wood being able to breath helps to balance the moisture levels of the air inside and outside your home, therefore minimising breathing and skin conditions.
The wood also is very good at absorbing sound making it a quiet and relaxed place to live. The natural and unique appearance of wood makes a very calm tranquil living environment, the colour also radiates a very warm feel through out your home.
How much energy is used in constructing a log home?
In terms of preparing the building materials a wooden building is vastly more energy efficient than conventional materials. It takes over 5 times the amount of energy to produce the same cubic meterage of brick than logs and many times more than that for metal structures. To erect the building is also quicker than a brick or block constructed unit, therefore also less energy is consumed.
What type of roof tiles can I use?
As long as we know what type of roof finish you want before the roof structure is designed then virtually any type of roof tiles can be used. A Finwood building can accommodate the following:
Bitumastic shingle (25 year guarantee)
Concrete tiles
Slates
Metal sheet roofing
Cedar shingles
Clay tiles
